Wedding FAQs
How far in advance should we book our wedding celebrant?
It depends on your date and how popular the time of year is, but it's always worth getting in touch as soon as you have a date in mind. Even if you're still working out the details, we can have a conversation and see whether I'm available and whether we're the right fit.
You will also need to meet the legal requirements which is completing the ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ at least 1 month prior to your wedding and no earlier than 18 months prior.
What other legal requirements are there?
You will need to have two witnesses on the day. You will also both need to have a separate meeting with your celebrant prior to your wedding day.
What happens when we first get in touch?
We'll start with a conversation, either face-to-face or by video call. It's an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to decide whether I'm the right celebrant for you. There's no hard sell and no obligation. If we're a match, we'll then spend more time working through your ceremony together.
How do you create a personalised wedding ceremony?
I take the time to really get to know you. I'll ask questions, listen to your stories and use a questionnaire to uncover the people, memories, quirks and little details that make your relationship unique. I'll then turn those conversations into a ceremony that sounds like you, not a template.
Do you write the complete ceremony?
Yes. I'll write your complete ceremony and provide you with a draft to review and refine together. If you'd rather keep the ceremony as a surprise, that's absolutely fine too.
Can you help us with our personal vows?
Absolutely. I can provide examples of shorter vows, prompts and guidance, and I'm happy to review what you've written. I can particularly help with length and tone, so your vows feel natural and work well together as a couple.
Can we include traditions, readings, family and friends?
Of course. You can include whatever feels meaningful to you – personal vows, readings, music, children, family and friends, cultural or family traditions, rituals, humour or something completely unexpected. There are traditions, but there aren't rules that say you have to follow them all.
How long is a wedding ceremony?
There's no right length. Around 20–30 minutes is fairly typical, but your ceremony can be shorter or longer depending on what you'd like to include. We'll create something that feels meaningful without feeling too long.
Do you provide a wedding rehearsal?
Yes. Your rehearsal is included in my celebrant service. Wherever possible, we'll hold it at your venue, but it can also be at your home, in a park or somewhere else that works. I'll guide everyone through the processional, where to stand, music cues, readings and the little details that help everything run smoothly.
What do you provide on the wedding day?
I'll bring a PA and microphone, Bluetooth speaker and music playback, signing table and chairs, signing pens, a printed ceremony, your vows printed and copies of the ceremony for you to keep.
Do you work with our other wedding suppliers?
Yes. Where needed, I'll liaise with your venue, photographer, videographer, musicians, DJ, Wedding MC and other suppliers to make sure everyone understands the plan and important moments and cues.
